The large, round shaped white felt dwelling known as a ger seen all over Mongolia, is most well known symbol of the land of nomads. Most Mongolians still live in gers, even in suburbs of Ulaanbaatar. Nomads have to have flexible and mobile gers in order to move around the pasturelands. Depending on the size, a ger can be assembled in thirty minutes to three hours. Ger is supported by collapsible wooden frame and covered by canvas and sheep wool felt layers. Ger door always faces to the south. In summer time, nomads take their gers and animals on the camel or yak cart for several hundred km in search of water and grass.
