Temujin, the founder of Mongolian Empire, the largest contiguous empire in world history, was born in 1162. He came to power by uniting many of the nomadic tribes of northeast Asia. After founding the Mongol Empire and being proclaimed “Chinggis Khaan”, he started the Mongol invasions and raids of tribes in the east such as Khar Khidan, Caucasus, Khwarezmid Empire, Western Xia and Jin Dynasty. Before Chinggis Khaan died in 1227, he assigned Ugudei Khan as his successor. His descendents went on to stretch the Mongol Empire across most of Euroasia by conquering modern day China, Korea, Caucasus, Central Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
